Refilwe, South Africa

We had the opportunity to go to South Africa this week to film for the amazing people at Refilwe Community Project. We will be putting together 3 short videos for them to promote the amazing work they are doing with the orphans, children and families of Johannesburg. Check out their site (link above) and stay tuned for more.

Stacey and Kevan are pretty much the best. Their celebration combined so many things that we love about weddings: working with clients who work in the wedding industry (Stacey works with A Grande Affair), traveling for weddings (Paso Robles is beautiful), and there’s nothing better than capturing the story of two people who are genuinely in love. We would go back and relive their wedding day we would, but since we can’t we will just have to keep watching their film.

Lachlan and Lyndsey are the epitome of an international couple. Lyndsey (an American) and Lachlan (an Australian) met in Hong Kong, where they currently live and work. Their love story has all the makings of a movie. Their ceremony, held at Kunde Winery’s Boot Hill, is among the prettiest we have ever filmed. The picturesque panorama of the Sonoma valley provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s elegant nuptials. The reception was gorgeous and we can’t get over the details of the day.

As far as wedding locations go, it’s hard to beat Napa’s Triple S Ranch. Ryan and Madeline’s September 17 wedding was about as pretty as it gets. From the wedding prep in the ranch’s elegantly rustic lodges to the intimate foresty first look, the Steel’s celebration was among our favorites from the summer.

If you are looking to add a little something extra to your wedding, you should probably have a bagpipe player escort you down the aisle during your recessional. That’s exactly what Kyle and Alyse did and it was amazing. The Patersons elegant ceremony, on September 10 at Diablo Country Club, was a beautiful mix late summer beauty and celebration among family and friends. Also, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Diamond Dave. That DJ is a legend.

Wedding Movie // Dress Whites

In the midst of Gordie and Rachel’s wedding, I overheard someone say that it felt like we were all witnessing some sort of Nicholas Sparks love story: the solider in his military whites marries a beautiful princess with sweeping vineyards and a pond as a backdrop. It truly was the stuff that Sparks dreams about. The was a sincerity and authenticity in the Nash’s love story that will stick with us for a long time. After watching their film, it may stick with you too.

Wedding Movie // All Smiles

You know those people who seem like they’re always happy? The types who seem to smile all the time and appreciates life moments (the little moments and the big ones). Jake and Alicia are those types of people. They were meant to be together. On a warm July day at Callippee Golf Course, the couple were married among some of their closest friends and family. Aside from the heartfelt ceremony, the beautiful golden hour, and the funny toasts, the dance party is probably what stood out the most. Let’s just say these people knew how to party. We couldn’t be happier for Jake and Alicia and look forward to the many smiles that are yet to come.

“A new day will come, and when the sun shines it’ll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why.” – Samwise Gamgee, “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”

Ok, we didn’t go to the shire to film the Catbagan’s wedding and Frodo Baggins wasn’t technically at the wedding, but JRR Tolkien would have been proud nevertheless. Samwise’s words (which were read by one of the groomsmen during the ceremony) held true throughout the day: “There is some good in the world…and it’s worth fighting for.” Chad and Priscilla’s Half Moon Bay wedding was a pretty special day and served as an important reminder that there is much good (and love) in this world.

July 16 was a pretty special day. David and Pojai tied the knot at Picchetti Winery among an intimate gathering of family and friends. The day was filled with romance, happy tears, kettle corn and sparklers. If you ask us, those are 4 ingredients for the perfect day.

There are many essential elements to a wedding: a couple in love, guests, flowers, rings, etc. We realized that having a mariachi band at your wedding ceremony and reception should also be on everyone’s “wedding essentials” list. Ed and Felisa’s elegant July wedding featured a little bit of everything. From having the most lavish flower arrangements we have ever seen, to providing froyo as guests left the ceremony and mariachi music at every turn (did we mention how much we loved the mariachi?), the Garcia’s sure knew how to throw a party. Wine and Roses provided the setting and the Garcia’s brought the party. We are just glad we were invited!
