We had so much fun with Jeremy and Cheryl Lyn in April. We love filming weddings in our own backyard. It’s hard to beat a California wedding in the Spring and we are always down for a good dance party. We love working with couples like the Alinea’s.

We just got back from a Kauai destination wedding and if you read the title of this blog post then you can see we’ve added a new name to our repertoire. Now, we love love California and all, but if we had to live somewhere else and film weddings we could probably comfortably live in Anahola Bay and drink lava flows on the daily. We had an amazing time with the Wongs and we can’t wait to share their full film. You’ll have to enjoy their teaser for now.

We also worked with an amazing photographer. Will Khoury is the man.

Moment Lens Discount Code

I recently purchased a Moment lens for my iPhone X and I can’t say enough positive things about it. I purchased the Moment Wide lens and took it to Palm Springs on a trip with my family. Its 18mm focal length allowed me to capture footage and pictures I wouldn’t have been able to without it (see below). Click this link to get 10% your next purchase with. Seriously, buy their lenses. They are dope.

There was a time (last week) when you could Google that term (this blog post’s title) and you would then find Matter Video among the first couple of pages of results. Then…we got hacked. Our site was up and down for a couple days and, to be honest, this ordeal may not be over. It screwed up our SEO a bit and was just a bummer experience (and costly) overall. If you are a small business owner and have a website, get it secured with a firewall. Also, if you see me around you can offer me a hug. I may need one.

On the positive side of things, our wedding season is ramping up and we have a lot of fun in store. Our fun cannot be hacked!

Paul and Christina have a pretty amazing family. The Sopers and their 4 kids spent the day together getting ready, celebrating, eating good food, and dancing the night away. The couple started 2018 off right with their friends and extended family in San Ramon. Also, quick note: all weddings should have good coffee. Shoutout to our pals at Story Coffee!

Two years in a row we have kicked off our wedding season at the Fairmont in San Francisco and we wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s something magical about weddings in the city and JB and Stephanie’s wedding set a pretty high bar for the rest of the year. The Harrell’s are an absolutely amazing couple and we had so much fun with their friends and family. The preparations and ceremony may have taken place at the historic Fairmont (same place Steph’s parents got married!), but the ceremony itself was at Saint Peter and Paul Church just down the road from the hotel. Several generations of Firenze’s have gotten married at the beautiful Italian church and it was pretty special to capture the tradition as it continued.

We wrapped up our 2017 wedding season in the best possible way. Joseph and Ana‘s December wedding ended up being one of our favorites of the year. We’ve seen a lot of amazing reactions when a groom sees his bride for the first time, but Joseph‘s is probably our favorite we’ve filmed (you should check it out). The couples love was so apparent and their energy and joy throughout the day was infectious. I’ve said it before, but we love winter weddings and the Pelina’s celebration was the perfect way to a wonderful wedding season.

2017 Wedding Highlight Reel

We had an amazing 2017. We filmed 24 weddings all over California (and one in Nevada) and had at least one per month, every month, except April (we went to Iceland that month). My initial goal was to cap our weddings at 20, but we had a few last minute wedding inquiries that we couldn’t turn down.

We have 21 weddings booked in 2018 and we will likely cap it at 24 again this year. We also have a couple 2019 weddings on the books. We are continually humbled by the people who allow us to capture their story and are so thankful for all of the people we got to know this year.

We are fortunate to be able to film a wide variety of weddings, from large celebrations to inimate gatherings of family and friends. The Lee’s San Francisco wedding was a beautiful display of love and culture at one of our favorite venues in the city. Emily and Franklin’s ceremony and restaurant reception was a wonderful gathering of love and a really special celebration to capture.

There’s something extra special about filming a military wedding on Veteran’s Day. We had amazing time with Austin and Shelby at Jacuzzi Winery and their Fall wedding was as beautiful as it was fun. The Sommerfield’s wedding was a giant party and likely the best Veteran’s Day we’ve ever had. Thank you to Austin for serving our country and to all of the other service men and women serving domestically and abroad. Happy late Veteran’s Day everyone!
