When you meet with a couple before their wedding day and they tell you they met while studying theater in college, it sets a certain set of expectations for the wedding day. As the videographer, we were hoping for a wedding party full of thespians ready to bust out in song and dance at any moment. Needless to say, we were not disappointed when September 15 rolled around. From the moment we walked in the room, everyone was singing and dancing and it was pretty much the happiest group of people we’ve ever been around. We loved every minute we got to spend with Jessica and Kevin and we are so grateful to have been a part of their day.

Put Big Sur on the top of your list. What list you ask? Any list will do, but your “Places to Get Married” list would be a good place to start. Mark and Jordan’s beautiful Glen Oaks wedding will go down as one of our favorites, I’m sure. Hidden beneath the redwoods of Big Sur is a fun little venue and restaurant called Glen Oaks. We were fortunate enough to stay the weekend and we loved every second of the Thompson’s beautiful wedding celebration. Also, they had a mac and cheese bar. Put that on your list as well.

The Luo’s Nestldown Wedding Video

Louis and Vincy’s wedding was straight out of a fairytale. The Luo’s Nestldown celebration was perfect in pretty much every way. Nestldown is among the best venues Northern California has to offer and the weather was beautiful. Our portrait time with the couple, among the redwoods and warm light, created some pretty amazing images. We had an amazing time with the couple and are grateful we could help capture their beautiful love story.

Remember season 3 of American Idol? Well, of course you do. Forget Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia and William Hung, this was the season where Derrick Olivera (yes THE Derrick Olivera) made it to Hollywood and was among the top 25 contestants. He probably would have won that season, but he had his eyes on a bigger prize: Laura Patajo. Laura is the bride equivalent of winning American Idol and the couple’s wedding at Leal Vineyards was as beautiful as an TV show or movie. William Hung could not be reached for comment.

Jenn and Scott chose the perfect day in July to get married. Sure, it was warm, but the weather and setting were about as beautiful as you can find on a summer day in Northern California. To be honest, the golden hour shots were among our favorites ever. We had a ton of fun with the Huang’s and hope many beautiful summer days are in their future.

They say you should always save the best for last and, considering the Herron’s celebration was our final wedding of the year, we definitely finished 2016 on a high note. Chris and Clarissa’s beautiful fall Casa Real wedding was the perfect way to complete our wedding season. We had an amazing time with the Herron’s and we couldn’t have picked a better couple for our 30th, and final, wedding of 2016.

When things don’t go as planned, there are a couple ways you can respond: You can freak out and act like the sky is falling or you can look at the cup as being half full and make the best of what you have. Well, Troy and Allie’s wedding didn’t necessarily go as they expected. They found out at 2:15pm, via email, that their priest would not be able to officiate their ceremony. Luckily, an hour later, a priest (aka the hero, Father Tom) offered to conduct the ceremony and the Channings lived happily ever after. We love fall weddings and Troy and Allie’s laid back November wedding was a dream.

If you haven’t been to Arizona, you should go. Sedona is there. Four Corners and Horseshoe Bend are there. The Grand Canyon is there. And, in October, Lena and Ryan happened to be there too and their wedding was pretty much the best. Flagstaff was the perfect setting for this couple. It has a bit of country, an extra helping of the outdoors, and romance to spare. We enjoyed the heck out of our time with the Washburn’s and we think their film is pretty dang fun too.

No, this isn’t an episode of Friday night lights. It’s the real life love story of Danny and Lanni Jones. Danny, a varsity football coach and teacher at a local high school married the love of his life, Lanni, who also happens to be a teacher, at Clos La Chance Winery in San Martin. We’re pretty sure the two of them had smiles on their faces from the beginning of the day until their bubble exit. Danny said the wedding was the best football play he had ever drawn up, and we can’t help but agree.

Words like “nice” and “kind” get thrown around a lot when describing folks and it’s easy to see why; there are a lot of nice people in this world. That being said, I think I can honestly say that Adam and Sunee are two of the nicest people we’ve ever worked with. They just exude kindness. Adam is a former Video Production student of mine and we have spent bunch of time together shooting weddings over the years. I always wondered about the girl he would end up with, because she would have to be pretty special to get a dude like him and he found his perfect match in Sunee. With San Francisco’s Marin Headlands providing the backdrop, the Hillyer’s began the next chapter in the love story and we were lucky to be a part of it.
