When you picture the 4th of July, you probably envision sparklers, fireworks, and fun with your friends and family. Well picture all of those things wrapped into a lovely Napa wedding at Brix Restaurant on Independence Day, 2015. The Francesconi’s wedding was just plane fun. The weather was perfect and the setting was hard to beat. Meghan asked that her wedding video not be “overly sappy.” She wanted a fun video. She asked, we delivered. Congrats to Meghan and Justin.

Cameron and Mariah started dating in high school and 6 years later they committed to a lifetime of love. The Coon’s Livermore wedding was a lot of fun. The couple exude a kindness and love that you don’t see very often. Their community of friends and family helped them celebrate a storybook wedding on a lovely day in Livermore.

Aaron and Jina got married on June 20, 2015 at a beautiful church in Orinda, CA. You really could not have picked a better location for such a special day. The church is pristine architecture, the receptions country club setting, and the love shared among family and friends enveloped the Becker’s wedding day.

Katie contacted us about filming her wedding, without knowing that I teach at the school where her husband is a football coach. Small world. Matt and Katie’s May wedding at Palmdale Estates was a beautiful event. It’s always fun filming weddings when we know this guests and The Hoefs wedding was no exception. From the day’s subtle nods to the sport Matt loves to Katie’s eye for detail, the celebration was one of the highlights of this wedding season.

I get to film a lot of weddings, but I think this one will continue to stick with me a for a while. Zack and Monica’s Lake Tahoe wedding was a giant party. Not only was the couple’s love evident, but there was an atmosphere of love and joy in the air among all of the family and guests. I actually went to high school with Monica so it was fun to reconnect with her and some old friends during the weekend’s festivities. Zack and Monica are hilarious, passionate people and I hope they get the chance to snowboard and wakeboard with their grandkids one day. They’re the best. We love them.

Chris and Lucy were married on a lovely May day in San Ramon, California. As a matter of fact, the couple got married at the same venue I married my wife 10 years earlier. It was my first time back to the site since my wedding and it was a lot of fun to reminisce and capture the beginning of a new marriage. Chris and Lucy’s love was so evident to all in attendance. It was the type of day you would want to re-live and fortunately they have photos and video to help remind them of their beginnings many years from you.

Healdsburg is beautiful just about any time of the year, but there’s something extra special about wine country in May. Kieran and Gina shared their vows with their San Franciscan priest in front of family and friends on May 9, 2015. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception at Barndiva was a ton of fun. Kieran and Gina’s priest said that their love should be an example to us all and we definitely agree.

Eight years ago, this lovely couple got married and started their amazing family. Now a family of 6, the couple decided to renew their vows in an intimate ceremony among friends and family at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. Most couples wait many years to renew their vows, but there was something special about the freshness of the couple’s ceremony and their love that was so evident. The ceremony The March vow renewal was followed by a beautiful dinner reception at Postino restaurant in Lafayette. Hopefully they do something like this every 8 years so we can be a part of it!

We purchased a DJI Inspire 1 this week and took it out for its first test flight yesterday. We have been using the DJI Phantom 2 and a GoPro Hero Black 3+ since May and it has become a staple part of our video projects. From weddings to non-profit videos, we always seem to find a way to sneak it in.

One of the reasons we purchased the Inspire was its ability to shoot 4K video and the seamless FPV integration with DJI’s iOS app. The iPhone (iPad Mini on its way) allows for sharp 1080p monitoring up to 2km, which is crazy. Our FPV setup on the Phantom 2 (P2) only allowed for a clear (non HD) picture at around 500ft.

The P2 and GoPro setup was nice, but having an all-in-one unit like the Inspire is a game-changer. I love the GoPro, but the image on the Inspire’s 4k camera, and the ability to modify the camera settings while it’s in the air, makes this unit about 10 times more useful for us.

We primarily use the drone for weddings and it produced some amazing images for our couples last year. Here are some highlights from 2014.

The Inspire is much larger and more aggressive than the P2, which means there’s going to be a bit of a learning curve. We took it out for a spin yesterday, but the rain cut things short. Here is a quick take of our first flight.

I can’t wait to master this amazing piece of technology. Connect with us on Twitter and Instagram and share your thoughts.
